Ever since it was announced, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had been intriguing the fans. Finally we know more details about the prequel story about Rebellion’s bold scheme to steal the Death Star plans, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, who took a closer look at some of the new characters.
The protagonist of Rogue One will be Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones. Erso is an outlaw who was offered a chance by the Rebellion to clean her slate by helping them retrieve the Death Star plans. But there is also a personal reason for her involvement – her father, Galen Erso, played by Mads Mikkelsen, is a scientist sought by both the Rebellion and the Empire.
Joining her in the quest will be Captain Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, an intelligence officer who plays by the rules; Chirrut Imwe, played by Donnie Yen, who is described as a “warrior monk”; Baze Malbus, played by Jian Wen, a protective friend of Chirrut’s who likes blasters; Bodhi Rook, played by Riz Ahmed, the lead pilot of the Rebel squad; and a security droid, K-2SO (Alan Tudyk).
Also in Erso’s team, we’ll see Forest Whitaker in the role of Saw Gerrera, interesting because he was once trained by Anakin. And as the villain Orson Krennic, we’ll see Ben Mendelsohn, who will be the one trying to end the rebel uprising.
Last, but not the least – Darth Vader will appear in Rogue One, which is opening in theaters in December.
